Auth App

Support

Help for setting up Auth, syncing accounts with iCloud, copying codes between Apple devices, and using verification-code AutoFill.

Getting Started

  • Tap Add to scan a setup QR code from the service you are securing.
  • If a QR code is not available, enter the setup key manually.
  • Use clear account names so codes are easy to find later.

iCloud Sync

Auth syncs through the iCloud account already signed in on your device. If accounts are not appearing on another device, confirm both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and that iCloud is enabled.

Copy on iPhone, Paste on Mac

Copying a code can use Apple's Universal Clipboard between nearby, signed-in devices. Make sure Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Handoff are enabled on both devices.

Verification-Code AutoFill

To use Auth as a verification-code provider, enable it in iOS Settings and map accounts to the websites they belong to. AutoFill can then offer the matching code when you sign in.

Security

Codes can be protected by Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. If authentication fails, check that device authentication is set up and that Auth is allowed to use it.
